Reed valve petal / membrane to fit the original reed valves on Piaggio / Vespa Bravo, Boss, Ciao, Ciao PX, Grillo, SI and Superbravo 50 mopeds.
Reed valves control the exchange process in the inlet area, open during the intake process and closed during the pre-compression in the crankcase. How quickly the process happens has significant influence on the throttle response of the engine.
As standard, most blocks are sluggish or even fitted with steel plates. this has 2 disadvantages, 1 being the engine is less responsive and 2 being that steel plates can cause severe damage to the engine when they break up whereas carbon reeds are just spat out of the the exhaust.
Supplied is a set of 2 thicknesses 0.30mm / 0.35mm. The various thicknesses allow for different degrees of responsiveness; the thinner the membrane, the better the drive.
